NEOSHO, Mo. – Thousands of people are taking to their phones and computers to shop for the best deals.
Cyber Monday is another huge day for local businesses to increase the traffic to their stores.
Businesses like black rain ordinance, are taking advantage of the holiday shopping day.
“What we do for Cyber Monday is we put out an e-blast that’s basically an email that has an ad in it that advertises our online specials that people can buy and purchase through the internet, it goes out nationwide to approximately 70,000 customers” said General Manager, Ray Prihoda.
This year they decided to combine their Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals, which has proved to be successful.
“The e-blast does generate a lot of traffic, our sales so far for our Black Friday and Cyber Monday are up over 105%” added Prihoda.
Having the ability to sell nationwide online introduces more customers to their products, something that is very important for a local business.
“Because they see it online, and they like to hit that button and make the purchase, send the credit card, and it does help us because it helps us get our product out to people who wouldn’t normally come into the store, but like to use their phone use or their computer and search the internet and get our online ads” said Prihoda.
And the increase of orders and revenue to local stores can help the community around it as well.
“It would create new jobs because it would allow them to staff up as far as helping to get those orders out or manning the front, so it just diversifies really the job availability within that retail sector that would take advantage of selling online and selling out their door” said Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce, Marketing and Public Information Manager, Erin Slifka.
By not limiting their products to in store only, especially during holiday shopping times like Cyber Monday, then the local economy will continue to grow.
“Shopping local, selling global, is something we at the chamber try to promote and support those smaller business retail members” added Slifka.
And for those at Black Rain Ordinance, although Cyber Monday is a one-day thing, it will continue to bring in new and future customers.
“We do see an influx from our online presence” added Prihoda.
